Hillsboro grapplers 6th at Halstead

Hillsboro High School wrestling didn’t show many signs of rust despite last week’s weather delays, finishing sixth among 22 schools and racking up five medalists Saturday at Halstead.

Halstead Invitational became a one-day tournament because of bad weather.

Douglass paced the field with 139 points, edging runner-up Minneapolis by 4 1/2 points.

Hillsboro racked up 95 points.

Tristan Rathbone spearheaded the charge for Hillsboro with a first-place finish, completing the day a perfect 4-0.

Jordan Bachman went 4-1, salvaging third place.

Garrett Helmer and Ryder Norstrom each finished fourth with Helmer finishing 4-2, and Norstrom 3-2.

Andre Patton rounded out Hillsboro’s medalists, taking sixth at 3-3.

Isaiah Patton and Deon Weeks each went 0-2, and Charlie Major, Austin Rempel, and Lyle Fickes all finished 1-2.

Hillsboro’s next tournament is 9 a.m. Saturday in Eureka for the Eureka Invitational.
