Aug. 1: A disturbance complaint in the 100 block of South Ash Street was checked. An ongoing confrontation between several males that began the night before was investigated. A motorist received assistance at D and Ash streets. A court services officer received assistance with an investigation. A harassment complaint was reported in the 200 block of South Cedar Street. A suspicious person was checked at Grand and Ash streets. Suspicious activity was reported in the 300 block of North Ash Street.
Aug. 2: A dog complaint in the 300 block of Willow Road was reported. A welfare check was provided in the 200 block of South Main Street. A possible stolen item was investigated in the 300 block of South Main Street.
Aug. 3: A missing person who was last seen at City Hall was later located. A civil process was delivered for the city. Doors at city hall were unlocked for voting. An individual reported political signs were removed from yards during the night. All of the signs were returned to authorities Thursday. Assistance was provided to a sheriff’s deputy with an injury accident at U.S. 56 and Ash Street. A person who lives in the 400 block of South Ash Street was reported missing and was located several days later. A disturbance was reported in the 400 block of East First Street. Several children and an adult argued about a game player. Stalking was reported in the 700 block of West Grand Avenue. Hillsboro Fire Department received assistance with a commercial fire at Third and Ash streets. Suspicious activity was checked downtown.
Aug. 4: A hit-and-run accident was investigated in the 600 block of West Grand Avenue. Vandalism was reported in the 100 block of North Main Street but it was later determined there was no vandalism involved. A theft was reported in the 100 block of South Date Street, when an individual reported his $2,000 laptop was removed from his residence without his authority. A property dispute was investigated in the 300 block of East Second Street. Officers performed a civil standby while property was removed. A theft was reported in the 100 block of North Jefferson Street when an iPod was stolen while the victim was in a business downtown. The item was valued at $270. A suspicious vehicle was checked in the 300 block of North Birch Street. Suspicious activity was checked in the 200 block of South Main Street.
Aug. 5: A child was left unattended in a vehicle in Hillsboro Heights. Noise complaints were checked in the 400 block of North Ash Street and in the 300 block of East Grand Avenue. A resident in the 200 block of South Cedar Street reported he believed someone was watching his house. A threat was reported in the 400 block of South Birch Street. An individual was allegedly threatened by a family member through a text message while the two argued about clothing.
Aug. 6: McPherson Court Service personnel received assistance with an investigation. Individuals were reportedly involved in inappropriate activity at the sports complex. A property dispute in the 200 block of South Cedar Street was determined to be a civil matter and not a criminal matter. A bicycle at Tabor College was reported stolen and was recovered later. A dog complaint in the 300 block of North Birch Street was checked. A civil process was delivered for city hall.
Aug. 7: Assistance was provided to authorities with a reckless driver on U.S. 56. A motorist received assistance at Ash and Grand streets. A dog complaint was checked in the 200 block of South Madison Street.
Aug. 8: A dog complaint was checked in the 200 block of South Madison Street. A suspicious vehicle on the county fairgrounds was checked. A motorist received assistance in the 600 block of South Ash Street.
Aug. 9: A prowler was reported in the 300 block of West Grand Avenue. An officer found a person lying on the floor of a house in the 400 block of North Ash Street following a welfare check. The individual was transported to a hospital. A motorist received assistance at the county fairgrounds. A suspicious person was reported in the 400 block of South Main Street. A dog complaint was checked on Main Street. A sheriff’s deputy received assistance during a physical altercation.
Aug. 10: An activated commercial alarm in the 200 block of North Main Street was checked. Lost property was returned. Assistance was provided to a sheriff’s deputy with a littering complaint. A property dispute in the 300 block of South Ash Street was determined to be a civil matter. A motorist received assistance in the 400 block of North Ash Street. A 911 disconnect at Tabor College was checked.
Aug. 11: An attempted mail scam was investigated. Officers assisted during a power outage. A welfare check in the 300 block of South Birch Street was provided.
Thursday: A motorist received assistance in the 400 block of North Birch Street. Assistance was provided to Hillsboro Fire Department in moving equipment. A 911 disconnect at Tabor College was checked. A landlord and tenant dispute was determined to be a civil matter.
Friday: Officers assisted with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Ash Street. EMS personnel received assistance in the 300 block of South Ash Street. A bicycle was reported stolen from the aquatic center; an individual who had reported it stolen last year took the bicycle and the current owner had recently traded for it. City council packets were delivered. The sheriff’s department received assistance with storm damage and injuries at Marion Reservoir. A 911 disconnect at Tabor College was checked. A harassment complaint in the 400 block of South Birch Street was investigated. An individual reported someone was tampering with the breaker box on her trailer. Curfew violation at Ash and Grand streets was reported. A dog complaint was checked at Tabor College. A suspicious person was checked in the 700 block of West Grand Avenue.
Saturday: A suspicious person was checked in the 400 block of North Main Street. Vehicles were broken into in the 200 block of South Washington Street and the 500 block of South Main Street. One owner reported $7 in change missing; others said nothing was taken. A protection from abuse violation was checked in the 500 block of West Grand Avenue. A burglary was reported in the 100 block of South Ash Street when an individual reported a $1,200 stereo amp was stolen from his vehicle. A motorist received assistance in the 100 block of West Grand Avenue. A curfew violation was reported in Memorial Park.
