Jan. 9: Hillsboro Fire Department received assistance with a fire alarm at Tabor College. The sheriff’s office received assistance with an investigation. A domestic disturbance in the 200 block of Willow Glen Street was reported; charges are pending against a Hillsboro male and female.
Jan. 10: A dog complaint was checked in the 500 block of South Main Street. An officer instructed a DARE class at Hillsboro Elementary School. A motorist received assistance at Washington and B streets. A disoriented person was assisted in the 100 block of West Grand Avenue; it was determined the individual had not been taking medications properly. Assistance was given to the fire department with a smoke alarm in the 100 block of North Main Street.
Jan. 11: A domestic disturbance was reported in the 100 block of North Birch Street; charges are pending against a Hillsboro male and a female. A suspicious person was checked in the 300 block of West Third Street. Several disorderly males were reported in the 500 block of East D Street.
Jan 12: A motorist received assistance at 190th and Jade roads. A child custody dispute was reported in the 400 block of South Birch Street. McPherson police received assistance with an investigation. Seized property was returned to the owner. An officer instructed a DARE class at HES.
Jan. 13: A child custody dispute was reported in the 400 block of South Birch Street. A theft was reported in Hillsboro Heights; a business reported the theft of $1,600 by an employee. Vandalism was reported in the 700 block of South Main Street when someone reported that he noticed a scratch on the side of his car; he advised that he did not know where or when the incident had occurred, and damage to the 2005 Cadillac was estimated at $2,105. A funeral escort was provided. A motorist received assistance in the 100 block of South Main Street.
Jan. 14: Assistance was provided to a motorist in the 400 block of South Jefferson Street. A noise complaint was checked in the 600 block of North Ash Street. A dog complaint was checked in the 500 block of East Grand Avenue. Canton police received assistance with an investigation. Officers qualified at the firearms range. A welfare check was provided in the 100 block of South Date Street. City council packets were delivered. A dog complaint was checked in the 400 block of North Adams Street.
Jan. 15: A hit-and-run accident was investigated in the 500 block of East Grand Avenue. Emergency medical services personnel received assistance with a call in the 400 block of South Main Street. Suspicious activity was checked in the 100 block of South Main Street. A parking complaint was checked in the 400 block of South Lincoln Street.
Jan. 16: Vandalism was reported in the 100 block of South Washington Street, when someone reported six tires on three vehicles had been punctured while parked in front of his residence; damage was estimated at $1,080. An attempted scam was reported in the 500 block of South Wilson Street; an individual reported she had received a phone call advising she had won a large sum of money and the caller needed personal info. A welfare check was provided in the 900 block of East D Street.
Jan. 17: Vandalism was reported in the 200 block of East A Street when two tires had been punctured on a vehicle while it was parked in the street; the damaged was believed to have occurred Jan. 16 and was estimated at $128. A 911 disconnect was checked in the 400 block of West Grand Avenue.
Jan. 18: A harassment complaint was filed in the 300 block of North Ash Street but was determined to be a civil matter. A noise complaint was checked in the 400 block of North Ash Street. A strange odor was reported coming from an apartment complex in the 100 block of South Jefferson Street and was determined to wood burning.
Jan. 19: A commercial alarm was activated in Hillsboro Heights. Officers attended safety training at city hall. Assistance was provided to someone for a person who may have been missing. A dog complaint was checked in the 400 block of South Ash Street. A suspicious person was checked in the 500 block of East D Street.
Thursday: Several warnings were issued to drivers in school zones who had failed to adequately remove snow from their windows. Aggravated battery was reported in the 300 block of North Birch Street, when someone reported being shot several times with a BB gun by a juvenile he was counseling. A threat complaint was filed in the 300 block of East Grand Avenue; an individual reported receiving a criminal threat over the phone from an unknown person. Suspicious peopled were checked in a vacant building in the 400 block of South Date Street.
Friday: A dog complaint was checked in the 500 block of East D Street. A parking complaint was checked on East Orchard Drive. EMS personnel received assistance with a call in the 200 block of South Ash Street. The sheriff’s office received assistance with a possible shooting near Marion Reservoir. An assault was reported in the 100 block of North Birch Street when two males allegedly assaulted a man at his residence; the two suspects were located, arrested, and transported to Marion County Jail.
Saturday: An officer presented a PowerPoint presentation about drugs. EMS received assistance at Hillsboro High School.
