Hillsboro police

A resident reported someone had used his identity to obtain a credit card. There was a balance of more than $1,600 on the card.

Jan. 18: A domestic animal complaint was filed in the 300 block of West Grand Street. Marion County Sheriff’s Department received assistance with an investigation. An animal welfare check was conducted in the 500 block of West First Street. A dog complaint was reported in the 300 block of North Ash Street.

Jan. 19: Assistance with an investigation was provided to the sheriff’s department. A domestic disturbance was reported in the 200 block of North Jefferson Street. A civil standby was provided in the 200 block of North Jefferson Street. A verbal dispute occurred in the 200 block of North Jefferson Street. A parking complaint was filed in the 400 block of North Ash Street. A motorist received assistance in the 500 block of South Ash Street.

Jan. 20: A complaint was made of juveniles smoking in alleys near Hillsboro High School. A physical altercation was reported in the 500 block of East Grand Street. A civil standby was provided in the 200 block of North Jefferson Street. Marion Police Department received assistance with property recovery in the 500 block of East Grand Street. A motorist received assistance in the 500 block of East D Street. An individual received assistance with a protection from abuse order. An officer instructed a DARE class at Hillsboro Elementary School. A court services officer received assistance with a home visit in the 200 block of South Ash Street. A commercial alarm was reported activated in the 300 block of South Ash Street. A dog complaint was filed in the 200 block of South Madison Street.

Jan. 21: An individual reported the theft of eight Wii video games from his dorm room in the 400 block of South Jefferson Street; the loss was estimated at $315. An animal welfare check was provided in the 300 block of Lincoln Street. Assistance was provided to a court services officer with a home visit in the 400 block of West Grand Street. A welfare check was provided in the 100 block of South Birch Street. An adult services worker with SRS received assistance. Suspicious activity was checked in the 500 block of East Grand Street.

Thursday: A domestic animal complaint was filed in the 400 block of North Ash Street. SRS received assistance with an investigation. Abandoned property was picked up in the 900 block of East D Street. A man was reported selling door-to-door without a permit. A dog complaint was filed in the downtown district.

Friday: Marion Police Department received assistance with an investigation. A gas skip was reported in the 300 block of North Ash Street. A juvenile was suspected of shoplifting in a store at Hillsboro Heights. A suspicious vehicle was checked in the 400 block of South Ash Street. A door-to-door salesman was reported selling without a permit. A dog complaint was filed at A and Adams streets.
