Hillsboro Police Department

An individual reported the theft of a checkbook Feb. 3, in the 200 block of West Grand Street, Hillsboro, which resulted in forged checks at various locations. A suspect has been identified in the case.

Jan. 24: Missing property was recovered. A traffic obstruction was reported at Ash and D streets. A prowler was reported in the 200 block of North Madison Street.

Jan. 25: A lost child was reported in Hillsboro Heights. An individual was arrested on a felony warrant. A disturbance was reported in the 300 block of North Washington Street.

Jan. 26: An attempted phone scam was reported in the 600 block of South Ash Street. Suspicious activity was checked at Hillsboro Sports Complex.

Jan. 27: A traffic complaint was filed in the 400 block of South Main Street. An individual was fingerprinted for a license. Kansas Highway Patrol received assistance with a non-injury accident. A theft was reported in the 900 block of East D Street when a projector was taken from a building; a suspect has been identified and charges are pending.

Jan. 28: A civil process was served. An individual reported an identify theft when an individual reported someone had used her Social Security number on a document. An officer instructed a DARE class. Assistance with a background investigation was provided to a federal agency.

Jan. 29: An individual reported the theft of a gaming system and iPod from a dormitory room in the 400 block of South Jefferson Street; the loss was valued at $740. Suspicious activity was checked at the city shop. A motorist received assistance at D and Ash streets.

Jan. 30: Kansas Bureau of Investigation received assistance with an investigation. A citation was issued to a juvenile in the alley of the 200 block of South Madison Street for illegal possession of tobacco. Suspicious activity was checked on D Street. An officer provided a K-9 demonstration at Parkside Homes. A motorist received assistance in the 500 block of East D Street.

Jan. 31: Officers attended K-9 training. A disturbance complaint was filed in the 400 block of North Ash Street. A juvenile disturbance was reported in the 200 block of West D Street. A domestic disturbance in the 400 block of South Ash Street was determined to be only a verbal confrontation.

Feb. 1: A motorist received assistance in the 600 block of North Ash Street. Suspicious activity was checked at the sports complex.

Feb. 2: Welfare checks were provided in the 200 block of North Main Street and 100 block of South Birch Street. A parking complaint was filed at C and Adams streets. A juvenile behavioral problem was reported in the 100 block of East Grand Street. A compost fire near the city’s sewage treatment facility was reported.

Feb. 3: A possible drunk driver was reported in the 100 block of South Main Street. Suspicious activity was reported in the 100 block of East Grand Street.

Feb. 4: A possible sick skunk was destroyed in the 400 block of North Ash Street. An officer instructed a DARE class. A parking complaint was filed in the 100 block of North Washington Street. A parent received assistance with a juvenile behavioral problem. A young child was reported in a street in the 300 block of South Ash Street.

Thursday: Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks received assistance with an investigation. A harassment complaint was filed in the 500 block of East D Street. A bicycle was recovered that had been thrown in Hillsboro Family Aquatics Center. A door-to-door salesman was reported selling without a permit. A residential search was conducted and stolen property was recovered. A camper hook-up was provided in Memorial Park. Assistance was provided to Hillsboro Fire Department with traffic control during a fire call.

Saturday: A motorist received assistance in the 500 block of East Grand Street. A dog complaint was filed in the 100 block of South Lincoln Street. Traffic control was provided on Ash Street. A vehicle tag was found on a roadway and returned to the owner. Assistance was provided to a motorist in the 200 block of South Adams Street.
