Hillsboro prepares for large crowd

Annual arts and crafts fair is coming soon

Volunteers with the Hillsboro Arts & Crafts Fair have been working all year in preparation for this year’s fair.

The 39th annual arts and crafts event will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 20 in downtown Hillsboro.

Approximately 300 vendors from around the state and country and 30 food vendors will have items for sale.

Ethnic food that include verenika, Hillsboro sausage, bierrocks, zwieback, and peppernuts will be available as will Kettle Korn, roasted almonds, lemonade, funnel cakes, and other baked goods.

Artists will set up their booths beginning Friday evening and will include local artists who are selling jewelry, copper items, baby accessories, and homemade jelly.

Parking will be available in residential areas near the downtown area and at Marion County Fairgrounds with a shuttle service. Handicapped parking also will be available.

The fair is rated among the top 100 arts and crafts show in the country and could attract as many as 40,000 people to the town of less than 3,000 people.
