Hillsboro principal promoted

Staff writer

Clint Corby will step up to superintendent from his position as Hillsboro Middle and High School principal.

“I absolutely love Hillsboro and the school district,” he said. “I want to ensure we keep doing the good things that we’re doing.”

He has taught in Wichita, was a superintendent in Mullinville, and was a superintendent and principal in Haviland.

He resigned as principal Monday at a Hillsboro school board meeting to accept the position of superintendent.

“I’m not leaving Hillsboro ‘till they kick me out,” Corby said jokingly.

Before coming to Hillsboro seven years ago, he was a principal at an elementary school close to McConnell Air Force Base.

“It was important to me to be that constant presence in their lives,” he said, “because many parents were deployed.”

He found Hillsboro when looking for a school for his son. Corby grew up in a small community and wanted a similarly small, faith-based community to live in.

He noticed an opening at Hillsboro, took it, and “never looked back.”

After the board meeting, Corby said his son would be upset that his office was moving into a different building than where he attends school.

“But that’s change,” Corby said.

He agreed to a two-year contract to serve as superintendent from July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2024.
