Hillsboro runner swipes top-10 medal
Hillsboro cross-country made another strong showing last week at the Berean Invitational, with a top-10 finisher in the girls race and two top-20 medalists for the boys.
Emersyn Funke was the Trojans’ top finisher overall, rounding out the top 10 with a 21:40.93.
With only four runners in the girls race, Hillsboro couldn’t place as a team.
Each runner came in under 26:30, however, with Ainsley Duell coming in at 22:34.42, Moriah Jost finishing in 24:26.35, and Millie Sechrist at 26:29.13
Medalists Caleb Diener and Tristan Reed led the boys team. Diener placed 11th in 17:55.96, while Reed was 18th in 18:27.56.
Rounding out the Trojans’ race were Nathan Lopez, Jason Latham, and Josh Diener, who finished within 20 seconds of one another. Lopez took a 24:20.31 finish, Latham was 24:29.97, and Diener came in at 24:36.09.
