Hillsboro schools get $85,050 from Diamond Vista

Hillsboro school district received its first annual PILOT payment from Diamond Vista at Monday’s school board meeting.

The money was placed in the district’s gifts and grants fund, which will allow the funds to be further allocated in the future, superintendent Max Heinrichs said.

It gives us more flexibility on how we can spend it,” he said. “That’s a pretty significant number, because that’s $85,050.”

A Prairie View representative discussed integrating social workers and mental health professionals into the school system.

“To be a part of our culture and provide mental health services for students who need them,” Heinrichs said. “As we’re looking at mental and emotional learning, that’s probably a part we need to figure out more in our system.”

Three coaches were approved for track and baseball positions.

Demetrius Cox was picked as middle/high school assistant track coach, with Clint Potucek selected as varsity baseball coach and Jason Hanschu as his assistant.

Heinrichs’ contract was extended through June 2022.
