Hillsboro track teams place 1st and 3rd

The Hillsboro High School boys track team finished first out of five teams, with a score of 99 points, April 6 in the Trojans’ first track meet of the season at Fairfield High School in Langdon. The Trojan girls finished third with 68 points.

Joel Allen, Bret Mueller, Josh Richert, Nathan Vogel, and Ben Bebermeyer won multiple medals. Allen won the 3200-meter run with a time of 10 minutes, 54.74 seconds. Richert and Mueller placed first and second, respectively in the 800-meter run, Richert finished with a time of 2:25 and Mueller two seconds behind him. Nathan Vogel won the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.96. Bebermeyer won the triple jump with a distance of 38 feet, 9 inches.

Together Bebermeyer, Vogel, and Allen teamed with Tyler Proffitt to win the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:01.69. Allen, Vogel, and Richert also teamed with Matt Richert to win the 4x800 with a time of 9:14.14.

Jordan Riggs was the other first-place male Trojan with a 130-10 throw to win the javelin.

Dakota Kaufman won three events on the girls side: the 100-meter, with a time of 13.20; the javelin, with a throw of 103-6; and the long jump, with a distance of 16-5.5”.

Callie Serene also won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:46.18.

“It was a great start to our season, particularly with the boys finishing first in the team standings,” Track and Field Head Coach Dennis Boldt said. “We know that it is just the beginning of the season, but those athletes should take pride in their accomplishments and build upon them.”
