Hillsboro volleyball netted a third-place finish Saturday during the team’s home tournament.

Hillsboro lost the first set to Chapman 25-21, but recovered to take the next two 25-22, 25-18.

The third-place match marked a sizable improvement for Hillsboro, since the Trojans lost to Chapman in straight sets during pool play, 25-17, and 25-10.

The team’s other two matches in pool play were both wins in straight sets.

Hillsboro won a come-from-behind set against Halstead 28-26, and then finished off the Dragons 25-15.

The Trojans followed that by defeating Minneapolis, downing their opponents 25-22, 25-20.

Hillsboro lost to Circle 25-16, 19-25, 25-20 in the first match of bracket play, but still raised its record to 18-17 with the day’s performance.
