Trojans boys’ varsity runner Jonathan Hinerman placed 15th of 89 competitors with a time of 19 minutes, 8 seconds on Sept. 22 at a cross-country meet at Southeast of Saline.
No other Hillsboro runners ran varsity. However, coach Stuart Holmes said many of Hillsboro’s junior varsity runners continued to show improvement.
“A highlight was Abby Driggers,” he said. “She continued to lower her school record for the (girls’) new five-kilometer distance.”
Driggers improved upon her previous time by 19 seconds, placing fourth in the girls’ junior varsity race at 25:05.
“Lydia Kliewer also medaled at sixth place running well and turning in a time of 25:35,” Holmes said. “Other runners showed significant improvement in their times in spite of warm, windy weather.”
Avery Unruh and Tristan Donaldson improved upon their respective best race times by over a minute, Holmes said.
Trojans run next at 4 p.m. Thursday at Berean.
