HMS wrestlers end stellar season
The Hillsboro Middle School wrestling team finished with a combined record of 137-111.
“I believe this is the best we have had in the four years that I have been here,” Head Coach Kurt Bowman said.
“With most of our kids only having one or two years of wrestling experience, I felt we had a pretty good season.”
Taylon Lamkin, 155 pounds, had the best record on the team at 15-1. He also finished first in his weight class in the Lyons and Mid-Central Activities Association tournaments. Six other wrestlers finished the season above .500.
Jon Carey, 90 pounds, was 10-7. Evan Ollenburger, 120, finished with a 13-2 record and had second- and first-place finishes at the Lyons and MCAA tournaments, respectively. Cody Delk, 127, was 10-6 on the season with first- and second-place finishes at Lyons and MCAA.
Tanner Sechrist, 127, was 9-5 with a first-place finish at MCAA. Jesse Brown, 134, was 10-5. And Scott Brazil, 141, was 11-4 with a second-place finish at MCAA.
