Homeowner angry about fire truck rut

Marion police had to be summoned June 8 to the 100 block of Burbridge St. because a property owner was irate over a fire truck leaving a rut on a strip of his lawn while backing up.

Police Chief Jeffrey Clinton said the fire truck was not on a call when the event took place.

“He had turned around in an alley and apparently he ran over a portion of the yard,” Jeffrey said. “The reason we got called down there was because the owner was all upset and was yelling.”

Jeffrey said when the homeowner calmed down and realized the incident was merely a mistake, he said he would take care of the ruts himself.

The fire chief offered to help, but the property owner declined.
