Hospital to break ground Dec. 14

A ground-breaking for the new Hillsboro Community Hospital will be at 1 p.m. Dec. 14 at the location of the new hospital at U.S. 56 and Industrial Road.

Owned and operated by HMC/CAH Consolidated Inc., funding for the new hospital has been secured with the assistance of United States Department of Agriculture and the Bank of Hays.

The new $10 million construction project is expected to be completed in early 2012. When completed, the facility will offer modern technology, new amenities for inpatient care, and enhanced outpatient care.

Chief executive officer of HCH Mike Ryan said many rural areas in Kansas have seen their local hospitals close.

“Conversely, HCH now has an opportunity to grow and expand health care,” he said.

Ryan said he was also grateful for the support from the community and especially Hillsboro City Council and Mayor Delores Dalke.
