Alta Hewitt

Alta Arlene Stenzel Hewitt, 89, of American Fork, Utah, passed away April 18, 2018, in Provo, Utah.

She was born March 31, 1929, to John Jacob Jr. and Ella E. Stenzel in Marion, Kansas. She grew up on a farm in Marion. She went into nurses training and while in Kansas City met and married Lawrence Paul Hewitt. She and Lawrence are the parents of nine children. Alta lived most of her married life while raising her children in Wichita, Kansas. After her husband retired they moved to American Fork, Utah.

Alta was a strong, talented, and organized woman who was also a wonderful cook and known for her delicious cinnamon rolls. She enjoyed working on genealogy, and throughout her life, she was very active in her church and led, taught, and directed many of the programs that help children, youth, and other women to grow closer to God.

Her husband, her parents, brother Larry E. Stenzel, daughter Laurie L. McEwan, and grandson Seth R. McEwan preceded her in death.

She is survived by her children: Gregory A. Hewitt, Linda P. Peterson, Michael L. Hewitt, Michele A. Redford, Lisa E. Clampitt, Lanell J. Lange, Randall P. Hewitt, and Loretta L. Hewitt.

A graveside service will be held at American Fork Cemetery, where she will be buried next to her husband.
