Earline Magathan

Earline Magathan, age 83, passed away Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at Wichita.

She was born April 26, 1935, at McPherson, Kansas, the daughter of Vernon and Lois Fortner Perkins. In 1945 the family moved northeast of Galva on a farmstead and lived there until 1950 when they moved back to McPherson. She was a graduate of McPherson High School.

On March 24, 1954, she was married to Jimmy Magathan at Marion. They made their home in Marion where Earline worked for the ASCS office for 30 years, retiring in 1992.

Earline had several past times including crafts, woodworking, flower gardening, cross stitching and sewing, baking and cooking, and was well known for making wonderful pies. Earline also spent a lot of time pursuing genealogy, family and friends were very important to her.

She was a member of the Valley United Methodist Church and the Neo-Century Club, both of Marion.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.

She is survived by her husband Jimmy Sr. of Marion; sons Jim and wife Rita of Emporia, Monte of Marion, Kerry and wife Kathleen of Wichita; daughter Denise Magathan of Whitewater, Kansas; sisters Nadine Bonham of McPherson, Mary Kluss of Nickerson, and Irma Perkins of Louisiana; eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018, at Valley United Methodist Church, Marion. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery at Florence, Kansas.

Memorial contributions in memory of Earline can be made to Alzheimer’s Disease and related disorders in care of the funeral home.

Friends may call 1 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
