Irene Hedrick

Irene Hedrick, 92, went to heaven to be with the Lord on Aug. 9, 2018. She was born on May 31, 1926 in Wild Cherry, Arkansas, to Henry and Ethel (Jones) Skidmore. She married Charles Hedrick Feb. 16, 1956. He preceded her in death.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and hand stitched quilting. Her warmth will live on in her quilts left to her family. A long life of hard work started picking cotton, working in factories and cleaning homes for many families in Peabody.

She is survived by her sister, Cecile Roberson of Little Rock, Arkansas; brother, Frank “Bud” Skidmore of Billings, Montana; sons, Ronald and his wife, Emily of Peabody, Rick and his wife, Tracy, of Clinton, Washington, and Gary and his wife, Denise of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Surviving grandchildren are Mitchel Kientz and his wife, Lynn Kientz of El Dorado; Wendy Gibson and her husband, Robert Gibson of Peabody, Michael and his wife, Alisha Hedrick of Newton; Ashley Croney of Reno, Nevada; Ryan Hedrick of Las Vegas; Audrey and Joshua Hedrick of Peabody, and great-grandchildren Jordan Gibson and Kaden Gibson, and Peyton, Natalie and Dylan Hedrick.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Elsie Summers and Vivian Dunigan, and her son, Duane Kientz.

Services were 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13 at Gracepoint Church in Peabody.

Interment was immediately following at Prairie Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Peabody recreation commission for picnic tables.
