Irene Lenke

Irene M. Lenke, 90, a person of faith, passed away peacefully with family Sunday, June 24, 2018, in Tempe, Arizona.

Irene was born Jessie Irene Meierhoff on Oct. 5, 1927, in Clements to Ernest and Ann Meierhoff. She earned her teacher’s certification at Kansas State Teachers College, and taught in both Kansas and Mesa, Arizona.

After her retirement, Irene enjoyed traveling and, as a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in Mesa, Arizona, also served as a long-term missionary in Sitka, Alaska, and Chimayo, New Mexico.

A beloved mother, she is survived by her two sons, Randal (and wife Leigh Ann) and Brian; her sister, Mildred (and husband Dorsett) Wilson; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018, at First Presbyterian Church, 161 N. Mesa Dr., Mesa, Arizona. Graveside services will be at Clements Cemetery in Cedar Point.
