Jay Pontious

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Jay Early Pontious, Lincolnville, Kansas, on Friday, Jan. 25, 2019 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas, at the age of 81.

Jay was born in Foraker, Oklahoma, on June 20, 1937 to Charles Emerson and Rosie Mae (Combs) Pontious.

He married Hazel S. Carlisle on June 1, 1958 in Foraker where they established their first home. They had four children, Brad, Gloria, Jimmy, and Alice.

Jay is survived by his wife, Hazel; son Brad of El Reno, Oklahoma; daughters Gloria of Wichita, Kansas, Alice of Meriden, Kansas, and Roberta and her husband, Ron, McGlachlin of Newton, Kansas; 10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Jay was preceded in death by his son Jimmy Wayne; parents; brothers Raymond and Bill; sisters Norma Wadsworth and Delores Reamy.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at Zeiner Funeral Home in Marion, Kansas.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019 in Foraker, Oklahoma.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Foraker Methodist Church, Foraker, Oklahoma.
