Judy Waner

Judith “Judy” Covey Waner, 80, of Topeka, passed away Sept. 12 at Stormont Vail Health Center in Topeka.

Private services will be held at a later date.

She was born July 4, 1940, in Topeka, a daughter of Carl Covey and Loris Pierce Barnes King.

She graduated from Marion High School. After graduating, she received a degree in nursing and furthered her career by becoming a registered nurse. She worked for St. Luke Hospital for a majority of her life. She also worked at Marion Manor and Parkside Homes Nursing Home in Hillsboro.

She married Eugene Waner on July 12, 1958, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Marion. He preceded her in death on Aug. 22, 2001.

She also was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother Linda Marten Covey, and sister Sharran Johnson.

Survivors include daughter Teresa Gomez, sons Ty (and wife Charlotte) Waner, Jerald (and wife Rebecca) Waner, step-brother Byron (and wife Wendy) McCarty, half-sister Jackie, eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
