Mary Ada Glenn

Mary Ada (Nolan) Glenn of Burns passed away April 9, 2018, at the age of 75.

Mary was born April 15, 1942, in El Dorado, Kansas, and graduated from El Dorado High School.

Mary spent most of her life working in El Dorado. She was the leader in “Credit Women” in their early years. She was employed at Ace Hardware, and later spent 28 years as head of yield accounting at Fina Refinery in El Dorado.

Mary loved camping and fishing around Bluestem Lake. She loved family reunions. Mary and her husband James started the Pride organization in Burns after building her home in 1985. She later served on Burns City Council for several years and was elected mayor of Burns for two terms.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Glen Nolan of El Dorado, Kansas.

Mary leaves her husband of 33 years James Earl Glenn; children Raymond Griggs and wife, Debbie, of Rogers, Arkansas; Kathy Speers of Wichita; Connie Pace and husband, David, of El Dorado; and Jan Willis and husband, Phil, of Leon; a sister, Beverly Green of El Dorado; stepdaughters Linda Shipman and husband, Dandy, of El Dorado, and Sandra Unruh and husband, Jim, of Lawrence; 17 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service for Mary will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2018, at Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado. Mary will be laid to rest at a later date at Bluff Cemetery in Springdale, Arkansas.

Memorial contributions in Mary’s name may be directed to Burns First Christian Church.
