Mary Doubek

Mary Doubek of Anaheim, California, passed away on Sept. 12, 2018 at the age of 96.

Mary was born in the Kansas farming community of Pilsen on April 2, 1922. She was the third of seven children born to Frank and Ludmila Vinduska.  She attended Lincolnville High School and, afterward, she and her sister, Lillian moved to Chicago. 

There she worked at the Western Electric Company. She met Clifford Doubek and they married after World War II on Nov. 5, 1949, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church located in her hometown.

Over the years they resided in the Chicago area, New Jersey and, lastly, Anaheim, where they lived since 1975.  They were married 65 years.

She and her husband Cliff, were enthusiastic supporters of Cal State Fullerton athletics, most notably the baseball program. 

Mary was strong in her faith and attended mass daily while she was still in good health.

Mary’s husband Clifford Doubek; sisters Mildred Steiner, Pauline Riedy, and Lillian Flom; and brother Mike Vinduska preceded her in death.

Mary is survived by her daughter Annette Weidner and fiancé Kevin Fairless; granddaughter Danielle and husband Kurt Rohrbacher; sisters Rosalie Bolyard and Helen Silhan, and numerous loving nieces and nephews. 

A rosary was held at 10:30 a.m.  Friday, Sept. 28, 2018, at San Antonio Catholic Church in Anaheim. A funeral mass followed at 11 a.m.

Those who wish to honor Mary may do so by donating to the VFW or a charity of their choice in her name.
