Ray Koegeboehn

Graveside services for Raymond Lee Koegeboehn, 88, of Sedgwick, Kansas, passed away Thursday, Aug. 20, 2020, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, will be 10 a.m. Sept. 5, 2020 at Marion Cemetery.

He was surrounded by family throughout his final days and hours.

Raymond was born Feb. 9, 1932, in his family’s home near Elmdale, Kansas, the son of Carl and Esther Koegeboehn. He graduated from Chase County High School in Cottonwood Falls in 1949.

Raymond married Nadine Brewer on Nov. 28, 1954, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elk Township. He was then drafted into the U.S. Army and served as a radio operator for two years.

After returning home to Chase County in 1957, Ray was a farmer and rancher along Middle Creek Road. They raised three children on the farm, bringing them up in love and knowing Christ.

Ray retired in 1999 after farming and ranching for nearly 50 years and driving the Chase County school bus for 25 years.

Ray served as an elder and trustee for many decades at their home church, Our Savior Lutheran Church in Marion.

Ray and his wife, Nadine, enjoyed traveling and visiting friends and family. Especially they loved spending time with their kids and grandkids and being a part of their lives.

Family gatherings were often spent playing Pinochle, Pitch, or Pins and Jokers with their kids, grandkids, and extended family.

He is survived by daughters, Debbie (and husband, Lyle) Heggemeier of Rochester, New York, and Kathy Cline of Wichita, Kansas; son, Gary (and wife, Lucy) of San Antonio, Texas two granddaughters, three grandsons and two great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Esther; brother, Mel; and sister, Ruby Mueller.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Our Savior Lutheran Church in Marion, Kansas.
