Richard Mellott

Richard James Mellott, 78, passed away with family and friends by his side May 14 at Wesley Medical Center.

Born in Newton to John and Elda Mellott, he graduated from Peabody High School in 1960. He was hard working in farming and construction all his life. He and his wife, Vickie, shared 37 years together.

He was a member of Peabody Christian Church and enjoyed hunting, grandchildren, and pulling pranks on everyone.

Survivors include his wife of Peabody; daughter Connie (and husband Bill) Dutton of Peabody; sons Rick (and wife Kara) Mellott of Oklahoma City and Stephen (and wife Kattie) King of Tucson; and sisters Joan Jost of Hillsboro and Esther Brooks of Peabody.

Grandchildren include Anda (and husband Dan) Entz and Eric (and wife Riss) Dutton of Peabody; Chance Mellott of Oklahoma City; Jax (and wife Jo) King of Tucson; and Symphony King.

Great-grandchildren include Benton, Case, Alexa, and Thomas of Peabody.

Celebration of life will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Peabody Christian Church.

He worked hard and loved even harder.
