Ronnie Hanschu

A celebration of life for Ronnie Hanschu, 72, who passed away Oct. 15, 2022, at Salem Home in Hillsboro, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at his homestead, 3510 Sunflower Rd., Ramona.

The family has chosen cremation. His ashes will be scattered on the farm. An inurnment will take place later at Lewis Cemetery, next to his son, James.

There will be no visitation, but the family will receive guests before the service. Lunch will follow at Trinity Lutheran Church, Ramona.

Casual attire and services will be as Ronnie would want it.

He was born Feb. 17, 1950, in Herington to Wilbur and Burma (Schlesener) Hanschu.

He attended Ramona Grade School and graduated from Centre High School.  He was baptized and confirmed at the Trinity.

Ronnie is survived by his loving wife, Lisa, of the home; his mother, Burma Hanschu; four daughters, Sommer Durante, Stephanie Keller (and husband Chad), Dr. Melissa House (and husband Jon), and Anna Weber (and friend Austin Johnson); a stepson, Gordon Hunicutt (and wife Sarah); a brother, Rick Hanschu (and wife Barb); grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and so many who loved and admired him.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Wilbur; a brother, Rory Hanschu; and a son, James Weber.

Ronnie lived his life as a farmer/rancher, working long hours on his acres and in his custom businesses.

He was known for his ornery smile and quick sense of humor. He loved giving people a hard time, and he was always ready with a good comeback.

He dedicated his life to farming, working the ground and caring for livestock.

He was a distributor for Archer Oil for more than 30 years and served in the Army Reserve.

He was a source of strength for Lisa. Life was not always easy, but the love they shared always endured beyond any obstacles they faced.

The sound of his diesel truck coming up the driveway always made her know everything would be OK. His love and companionship will be deeply missed by her.

The family suggests memorials be made out to Lisa Hanschu to be used for the James Weber Memorial Scholarship or a charity of the donor’s choice.
