A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to many, she was born July 17, 1917, on her family’s farm six miles south of Galva. She was the third youngest of eight children born to Isaac and Carrie Jantz.

She met her future husband, La Verne Decker of Moundridge, at her 21st birthday party, organized by her younger sister, Elda.

They were married May 24, 1939, at Emmanuel Mennonite Church and moved to a farm south of Peabody.

There, over the next six decades, they established their farm and became firmly established in the Peabody community.

She was an accomplished homemaker, raising two sons while helping with farming chores.

She loved to sew, making many of her own clothes and quilts for the family.

A life well-lived indeed, her legacy will be carried warmly in our hearts.

She was preceded in death by her husband, La Verne, and her eight siblings.
