Sharon Nelson

Sharon Flo (Wiggans) Nelson was born April 13, 1949, in Herington. She was one of three children born to Roy Wiggans Jr. and Eva (Cunningham) Wiggans.

Sharon passed away peacefully in her home with her family by her side on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018,

She graduated from Wilsey High School with the class of 1967. Sharon attended Brown Mackie School of Business in Salina.

On Oct. 27, 1967, Steve and Sharon established their family farm in rural Delavan. Sharon was very involved with family and farm life.

Sharon spent countless hours in the field, working cattle, feeding dogs, and then making dinner for anyone at the farm. She was an excellent cook.

She raised multiple breeds of dogs that went all over the United States. Her true passion was raising greyhounds. While raising greyhounds she made great friends and loved her dogs.

Sharon was a very classy woman and was admired by her friends and family. Her class was noticed through her fancy dress and jewelry.

In her down time, she loved planting flowers and taking care of her landscape. She also spent hours knitting and made sure that each piece she knit was created with her special love.

Sharon was baptized and joined Hebron Lutheran Church of Burdick.

They were blessed with four daughters: Tonya Dee (stillborn), March 24, 1968; Shannon Dee, March 22, 1970: Tara Ann (stillborn), Jan. 19, 1974; and Angel Ann, Jan. 27, 1975.

Sharon was preceded in death by three daughters, infant daughters Tonya Dee and Tara Ann and Angel Ann, age 39, on Dec. 22, 2014; her parents, Junior and Eva Wiggans; and in-laws Keith and Toady Nelson.

She is survived by her husband, Steve, of the home; a daughter, Shannon, and her husband, Craig, of rural Herington; four grandchildren, whom she loved dearly, Trent Granzow and Shae Granzow of rural Herington and Cole Klein and Saylor Klein of Weatherford, Texas; a sister, Charlene Riffel, and her husband, Ken, of rural Delavan; a brother, Roy Wiggans III, of rural Delavan; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A visitation celebrating Sharon’s life was from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hebron Lutheran Church in Burdick.
