Susan Berg

A celebration of life for Marion County treasurer Susan E. Berg, 66, who passed away Oct. 4, 2023, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita, will be 10:30 a.m. today, October 11, 2023, at Marion Christian Church. Inurnment will be in the Marion Cemetery.

Susan was born April 12, 1957, in Marion to Cyril and Elisabeth (Redford) Reznicek, and was a 1975 graduate of Ottawa High School.

On Aug. 11, 2007, she was united in marriage to Donald “Don” Berg. While serving as Marion city clerk, she was instrumental in moving Marion City Library into its current home in an old railroad depot.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents.

She is lovingly survived by her husband, Don, of Marion; her daughter, Christina Cooper of Marion; step-daughters Donna Bernhardt (and husband Dennis) and Brenda Edwards (and husband Terry) of Marion; sisters: Mary Jo Karlskint (and husband Mark) of Ft. Scott and Judy Wegerer (and husband Lou) of Marion; grandson Dylan Cooper; step-grandchildren Jamie Boden (and husband Jerry) Jessica Heidebrecht (and husband Tyson), Jordan Harper (and partner Wyatt DiLauro), Jacob Harper (and wife Macy) and Luke Dawson; and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorials have been established with Marion City Library and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in care of Jost Funeral Home, 401 S Washington St., Hillsboro KS 67063.
