Victor Klingenberg

Graveside rites for Peabody graduate Victor Roy Klingenberg, 86, who went to be with the Lord and his beloved wife, Betty, on Sunday, March 10, 2024, will be performed at 11 a.m. March 22 by his nephew, pastor Brett Klingenberg, at Rolston Cemetery, 29020 Highway 125, Afton (Monkey Island), Oklahoma.

A luncheon for family and friends to celebrate his life will follow on the 11th floor of Vista Towers, 57200 E. Highway 125, and Monkey Island.

Victor was born March 22, 1937, in Newton, the eldest son of Willie H. and Marie (Regier) Klingenberg.

He was raised on his parents’ farm near Peabody and graduated from Peabody High School in 1955.

Victor was friendly and outgoing and made lasting friends throughout his life.

He and Betty married Nov. 10, 1973. Together they owned and operated an irrigation service and supply company serving customers across Oklahoma and Arkansas before retiring to their “hundred acres of Heaven” cattle ranch at Fairland, Oklahoma.

For many years, Victor also drove a school bus for Rogers Public Schools and charter buses for Ozark Transportation in Rogers, Arkansas, and Pelivan Transit in Miami, Oklahoma,

“Mr. Vic” was beloved by special-needs students he transported to school and was credited with saving the life of a student who experienced a medical crisis en route to school.

He is survived by daughters Janet Savoy (and husband Eric), Wichita; Donella Lara, Derby; Raeanne Briar (and David), Newton; Susan Graham (and Terry) and Carolyn Williams (and Mike), Monkey Island; and Barbara Pliler (and Rex Gill), Tulsa.

Also surviving are brother Vernon (and wife Carol) of Peabody; sisters Esther Schrag of McPherson and Mary Janzen (and Ken) of North Newton; 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Victor was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty Porter Klingenberg; daughter Joyce Kathleen Copeland; and brother-in-law Jacob Schrag.

Funeral and cremation services are under the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home, Miami, Oklahoma. No visitation is planned.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to pay outstanding school lunch fees at Fairland Public Schools, 202 W. Washington Ave., Fairland OK 74343. Please note “Lunch Donation” in the memo line of your check.
