Virgil Weber

Services for Virgil Weber, 92, who died Friday, April 27, 2018, at Hillsboro Community Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at Strassburg Baptist Church. Interment will precede the service at 10 a.m. at Marion Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 1, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion.

Born March 28, 1926, to Jacob and Hannah (Baker) Weber in Hillsboro, he attended Kreutziger School north of Canada, Kansas. He married Anita June Seifert on May 12, 1949, at Strassburg Baptist Church. He was a lifetime member of the church.

Virgil grew up farming before becoming a car mechanic in 1945 for Seifert Motor Company in Marion, then Cook Motor Co. in Marion, and finally at Irv Schroeder Motor Co. in Hillsboro where he retired in 1986. He also serviced vehicles for friends in his home garage. He loved fishing, yardwork, and small woodworking projects.

Survivors include: wife, Anita, of 68 years; daughters, Kathy Thomas and husband, Jim, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; and Diane Bolton and husband, Gary, of Council Grove, Kansas; son Ron Weber and wife, Sharon, of Hutchinson, Kansas; grandchildren, Chris Bolton of Council Grove, Kansas; Cassie Bolton Rizzo and husband, Matt, of Wichita, Kansas; Scott Weber of Omaha, Nebraska; and Hanna Weber of Hutchinson, Kansas.

His parents preceded him in death.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Strassburg Baptist Church, Salem Home in Hillsboro, Kansas, or Hillsboro Community Hospital.
