In addition to Peabody’s 4th Fest celebration and fireworks display, other events in the county will mark Independence Day over a span of six days.

Aulne

Aulne Bible Church is arranging a music program at 7 p.m. July 5, to be followed by an ice cream social at 8 p.m. and a fireworks show at dark.

Florence

Florence’s holiday celebration will be Wednesday with free swimming starting at 6:30 p.m. at the city pool and a hot dog feed outside the pool.

A small fireworks display will begin at dusk at the ball field.

Hillsboro

The community is being invited to The Igloo shaved ice truck from 7 to 10 p.m. Monday to “Have a Big Loo with Big Lou at the Igloo.”

People can talk to Mayor Lou Thurston and sometimes city administrator Matt Stiles and state representatives. Large shaved ice will be sold for $1 off.

At dark fireworks stand operator Robert Rempel, does a fireworks display.

“It’s a fun little event,” Stiles said.

Marion County Lake

A car and motorcycle parade around the county lake at 7 p.m. July 5 will precede a fireworks display scheduled to begin when darkness falls. This year will be the fourth annual fireworks show at the lake.

Ramona

Ramona’s July 6 celebration will begin with a 4 p.m. parade. Prizes will be given for first- and second-place floats, best patriotic float, mayor’s choice float, teens ages 13 and older, and floats by children ages 12 and under.

After the parade, David Stover will give a speech recognizing Ramona veterans.

Veterans will give a flag folding display after Stover’s speech.

Ramona Fire Department will sell food after the parade. Veterans will eat free.

Games and activities will include a pie-eating contest for kids age 10 and under, a cake walk, kids’ games, a pinwheel garden, and an inflatable obstacle course.
