Jack R. Kerbs

Jack R. Kerbs, 84, passed away Sept. 15, 2014, at Marion Assisted Living, Marion, Kansas. He was born July 8, 1930, at Ft. Collins, Colorado, the son of Fred and Elizabeth (Vogel) Kerbs.

He was a 1948 graduate of Durham High School. On July 12, 1950, he was united in marriage to Treva Mae Kelsey. For twenty years they made their home in Durham, moving to the Marion area in 1970. He was a retired Maintenance Supervisor for KDOT for nearly 44 years, and along with his family provided foster care for approximately 20 children over 16 years.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Treva, and six siblings: Vyona Edwards, Lucille Stump, Viola Truax and Roland, Laverne and Alan Kerbs. He is lovingly survived by three daughters: Jacqueline Rector and her husband Kelly of Lawrence; Gwendolyn Seidel of Marion; and Crystal Nahirny and her husband Dave of Houston, TX; a nephew, Larry Kerbs of Ardmore, OK; a sister, Francis Kerbs Decker of Ft. Collins, CO; brothers-in-law, Keith Kelsey of Newton; and Forrest Kelsey and his wife Bea of Marion; 5 grandchildren: Angela May of Lawrence; Brandon Rector of Lawrence; Shawn Winter and wife Karly of Lamar, IA; Mandi Garrison and husband Mike of Kingman; and Nate Nahirny of Houston, TX; and four great-grandchildren: Brealynn, Rhett, Tyler and Brianne.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 19, 2014, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Marion. Memorial gifts can be made in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm, Marion KS 66861.
