James Lee Dale
Services for James Lee “Jim” Dale, 84, who died Nov. 5, at his home in Lakin were Monday at Deerfield United Methodist Church, Deerfield.
Born Sept. 18, 1935, in Dodge City, Kansas the son of Percy and Clara (Johnson) Dale, he grew up in Garden City where he attended Garden City schools. He graduated from Garden City High School in 1953.
He then served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
On June 30, 1961, he married Reta Mae Smith in Walsenburg, Colorado. They lived in Spanish Peaks, Colorado and Garden City. They moved to Lakin in 1971.
A lifetime farmer and rancher, he was also owner and operator of J&R Ready Mix and Garden City Mack Truck.
Survivors include three children Joanna Bowles, Hot Springs, Arkansas, Pat Dale, Spring, Texas, and Jeff Dale, Lakin; and nine grandchildren.
His wife Reta Mae Smith, parents, brother Robert Dale; and a grandson preceded him in death.
Memorials have been established with the Finney County Humane Society.
