Jirak, Simpson exchange vows

Kristine Jirak of Tampa and Mitchell Simpson of Wichita were married at 2 p.m., July 12 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Pilsen.

The bride is the daughter of Francis and Mary Jirak, of Tampa. Parents of the groom are Jim and Janice Simpson, of Wichita.

The bride’s brother, Rev. John Jirak, pastor of Church of the Blessed Sacrament, Wichita, was the main celebrant at the double ring ceremony.

Concelebrating priests were Fr. Darrin May and Fr. Patrick York. Deacon David Darland, friend of the groom, assisted at the Nuptial Mass.

Altar servers were seminarians Clay Kimbro, Isaac Coulter, Austin Long, and Devin Burns.

Travis Gear of Andale, brother-in-law of the bride, and Barb Pianalto of Wichita, friend of the groom, were lectors.

Tom Nelson, of Burdick, was organist. Violinist was Kalynn Jirak, of Atchison. Vocalists included Heidi Jirak, of Oakley, Julie Rziha, of Pilsen, and Julie Schmeidler, of Wichita.

Guests were seated by Albert Jirak, of Colwich and James Jirak, of Kensington, brothers of the bride, and Alex Gorges of Wichita and Arvin Fontarum of Wichita.

Escorted down the aisle by her father, the bride wore a white dress made of beaded lace appliqués on tulle over crystal satin. The fit and flare A-line gown featured a semi-cathedral train. Her ensemble was completed with a fingertip veil borrowed from her sister.

The bride carried a round hand-held bouquet of white hydrangeas, apple green carnations, button mums, white roses, hypericum berries, and white trichelium, with the stems wrapped in white satin. A rosary from her great aunt, Margaret Frick, was entwined in the bouquet.

Maria Gear of Andale, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. She wore a long, dark navy, shirred matte jersey gown featuring a shirred one-shoulder neckline. She carried a bouquet of white spray roses, button mums, apple green roses, hypericum berries, white lisianthus, and Queen Anne’s lace with the stems wrapped in white satin.

Bridesmaids were Raschelle Jirak, of Wichita, cousin of the bride, and Jenna Simpson, of Kansas City, sister of the groom. They wore gowns identical to the matron of honor and carried similar flowers.

Junior bridesmaids were Elizabeth Jirak, of Kensington, and Felicity Gear, of Andale, goddaughters of the bride. They wore tea-length gowns with silver sequined bodices and blush-colored, tiered chiffon skirts. They carried flowers identical to the bridesmaids.

Bridget Gear of Andale and Josephine Jirak of Colwich, nieces of the bride, were flower girls. They wore white sleeveless dresses with satin bodices and layered tulle skirts, tied in back with a satin bow.

Matt Pianalto, of Wichita, served as best man. Groomsmen were Heath Hermes of Manhattan, and Marshall Simpson, of Wichita, brother of the groom.

Junior groomsman was Augustine Jirak of Colwich, godson of the bride. Ring bearer was Patrick Gear of Andale, nephew of the bride.

The groom wore a gray tuxedo with a white vest and white rose boutonniere.

Groomsmen wore gray tuxedos with navy blue vests and apple green carnation boutonnieres.

Monica Jirak of Kensington, niece of the bride, served as the bride’s personal attendant. Guestbook attendants were Annette Quaney and Stephanie Quaney, of Colwich, and Emma Jirak, of Oakley, cousins of the bride.

The wedding cake was baked and decorated by Sandra Jirak of Kensington, sister-in-law of the bride. Cutting and serving the cake were Barb Pianalto, of Wichita, Amy Dreiling, of Colwich, and Kelly Courtney, of Kansas City.

Dominic and Isaac Jirak, of Kensington, nephews of the bride, were in charge of distributing the programs.

A reception, dinner and dance were held at the Religious Education Center in Colwich.

The bride is a 2008 graduate of Centre High School and a 2011 graduate of Benedictine College in Atchison. She is employed at Solutions, Inc. in Colwich.

The groom is a 2006 graduate of Bishop Carroll Catholic High School and a 2011 graduate of Conception Seminary College in Conception, Missouri. He is employed as a quality assurance test engineer at NetApp, Wichita.

Following a wedding trip to the island of Cozumel, Mexico, the couple resides in Wichita.
