Joan Harmon

Services for Joan Harmon, 91, who died July 15, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Durham.

Burial will be an hour before the services at Durham Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Jost Funeral Home, Hillsboro.

Born Joan Kaiser on July 26, 1934, in Hillsboro, to Fred and Pauline Kaiser, she grew up on her family’s farm west of Durham and attended Brown Mackie College in Salina after graduation.

There she met Joel William “Bill” Harmon, whom she married on Aug. 7, 1953. As a military family, the Harmons lived in many places over the years. In 1973, after Bill retired from military service, they returned to Durham.

He along with brother Milton Kaiser and sister Geraldine Ewert preceded her in death.

Survivors include sons Bill Harmon of Manhattan and Tom Harmon of Durham, sisters Shirley Klein of Abilene and Pat Ford of Hillsboro, and a granddaughter.

A memorial has been established with the church.
