JoAnn Hummel, 71, of El Dorado, died June 3 at her home.

Born July 28, 1938, in Burlington, to Lowrence and Dorothy (Freeman) Heusner, she was a homemaker.

She was married for 27 years to Tom Lanning, marrying him Oct. 12, 1956. She later married Bernard Dieker. On Oct. 3, 1999, she married Harry P. Hummel in Eldorado.

A sister, Donna Moody, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband, Harry, of Whitewater; a son, Gene Lanning of Marion; two daughters, Cynthia Deutscher Frantz of Wichita and LeaAnn Knaak of Hillsboro; a brother, James of El Dorado; a sister, Dorothy Gaylor of Park City; a half-sister, Toni Haggard of Emporia; and eight grandchildren.

Services were Monday afternoon at Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado.

Interment followed in Sunset Lawns Cemetery, rural El Dorado.

Memorial funds have been established with an animal shelter in care of Carlson Funeral Home, 200 S. Star St, El Dorado KS 67042-2933.
