NORTHWEST OF DURHAM:   Koehn family returns home from vacation

Larry and Wanda Koehn and Amy Koehn returned home Aug. 12 from a vacation to visit their daughter and sister Sara and Tom Penner in Swan River, Manitoba.

On the way home from vacation, they were dinner guests at the home of Larry and Joyce Gooesen, and overnight guests of Winston and Noreen Penner, Sheila Penner’s parents, at St. Anne, Manitoba.

A picnic birthday supper was held Saturday for Mich Rhodes and Robyn Schultz. Those in attendance were Harry and Sheryle Rhodes, Ken and Shelli Giesbrecht and Taylor, Calvin and Janene Wiebe and family, Mike and Mich Rhodes and family, Darrin and Meri Kay Rhodes and family, Terry and Robyn Schultz and family, and Calia Wenger.

Calvin and Janene Wiebe and family, Dale and Kathy Jantz and Louise, and Rayleta Ratzlaff were dinner guests of Titus and Chelsea Kohn on Sunday.

The wedding of Misty Dirks, daughter of Brad and Joyce Dirks, took place Sunday at the United Center Church, Canton. Attendees included cousins Ruston Dirks family, Marlin Wiebe family, and Heath Dirks family.

The traditional “Doughnut Day” happened Saturday in the Unruh home, with the help of Brenda Enns preparing doughnuts. Attendees included Jim and Brenda Enns, Mark and Barb Unruh and Sarah, Katelin Hendricks and Jayden, Warren and Anita Unruh and Nathan, Kyle, and Jenna, and Darren and Corina Enns.

Brooke Wiebe’s birthday was celebrated Friday evening with a supper at the Clayton Wiebe home. Guests were Nelson and Bev Wiebe and family, Wayne and Lora Lee Wiebe and family, Calvin and Janene Weibe and family, Travis and Sharon Koehn and family and Loretta Wiebe.

Larry and Wanda Koehn, accompanied by Lena Koehn and Margie Jantz of Newton, drove to Havilland Sunday and were dinner guests in the home of Howard and Iris Eck.

Ransom and Lillian Wiebe went on a business trip Friday to Dodge City and had dinner Saturday with Ken and Anita Schmidt.

Cottonwood Grove Christian School begins Aug. 19. Teachers include Tim Koehn, grades 5 through 8, Rebecca Peachy, grade 3, Katie Schmidt, grade 2, and Jessica Martin, grade 1. Helping with music will be Chelsea Koehn and Marissa Litwiller will be a teachers aid. There will be three students attending from Hillsboro.
