Florenceās 78th annual Labor Day celebration begins Sept. 5. Evening entertainment will feature Matt Engels and the Callahan Band.
Free face painting, henna tattoos, and caricature drawings will be available downtown from 6 to 9 p.m. for those who have a Labor Day button. A new booth will feature an artist airbrushing designs on T-shirts. Plain white T-shirts can be purchased for $5.
A lawn mower obstacle course race will be held Sept. 6 at the ballfield at 8th and Barker Sts. Contestants should bring a lawn mower. No zero-turn mowers allowed.
Labor Day five-kilometer run and one-mile fun run will be Sept. 7 starting at 8 a.m. Registration forms are available at Cottonwood Valley Bank in Florence and Marion County Record office in Marion.
