Lady Trojans finish 2-3 at tournament

The Hillsboro Lady Trojans volleyball team is off to a 5-8 start, competing in Saturday’s Southeast of Saline Tournament in Gypsum.

Against teams from Classes 3, 4, and 5A, the Trojans were able to post a 2-3 finish.

Saturday got off to a good start against Smoky Valley with the Trojans dispatching the Vikings in two sets.

In the Trojan War against host SES, Hillsboro was unable to keep it going, tumbling by a pair of 25-23 scores.

Class 4A’s Concordia handed the Trojans their second setback of the day with the Lady Panthers prevailing in 25-15 and 25-16 sets.

Hillsboro bounced back in the fourth match, upending Class 5A Salina South in two sets, 25-16, and 25-17.

The day ended on a sour note in another battle of Trojans, with Beloit claiming two 25-17 wins.

On deck after a Tuesday triangular at Hillsboro against Halstead, and Life Prep, the Trojans return to action Sept. 19 in the Nickerson triangular.
