This week’s announcement of seven more weekly winners (see Page B8) and two grand prize winners brings the total prize package for this year’s Santa Bucks promotion to $2,201.
A total of 656 entries were received at seven participating businesses from Nov. 16 through Monday.
From among them, a total of 44 entrants won Santa Bucks redeemable from $5 to $250 in merchandise at the stores.
In addition, 122 other entrants won free three-month subscriptions to the Marion County Record.
Winner of the $250 Santa Bucks grand prize is Elaine Pfeiffer of Marion. Second prize of $125 in Santa Bucks went to Judy Priest of Marion County Lake. Both winners entered at multiple businesses.
Two other newspaper contests also conclude this week.
Seven-year-old Emily Hake of Marion is the winner of a massive, three-foot-long, 11-pound Christmas stocking filled with more than $50 in goodies.
Although contestants were required to color only one of 12 scenes, each sponsored by a different advertiser, Emily neatly colored all 12.
“She wanted to bring it in yesterday. I was her agent yesterday,” Shawna Hake said. “She loves to color. She loves art. She has a whole table in the kitchen with her art stuff.”
Debbie Dick, a teacher at Hillsboro Elementary Schools, is the winner of $100 in merchandise from Hillsboro merchants from this year’s subscription promotion contest sponsored by the Record, the Hillsboro Star-Journal and the Peabody Gazette-Bulletin.
More than 180 readers entered that contest, which began last summer.
