Leak repair may require pool closure

Staff writer

Hillsboro City employees discovered a leak at Hillsboro Family Aquatic Center, City Administrator Larry Paine told city council Tuesday.

The leak was found while preparing the pool for the summer and is in the circulation system for equipment used to clean the deck and yard.

It is in a two-inch line and is a significant break, Paine said. Staff will repair the leak next week.

The aquatic center may be closed during repairs, which will take an unknown amount of time.

In other business:

  • Mayor Delores Dalke reappointed Kyle Cederberg to Board of Zoning Appeals. Council approved the appointment.
  • Sales tax receipts through May 29 were up 5.1 percent over the same period in 2008.
  • The road from D Street to the joint Tabor College/USD 410 athletic facility will be a private drive. The decision by the college and school board means the road will not have to meet city street standards.

The next council meeting will be 4 p.m. June 16. A budget work session will follow the meeting.
