Prosecuting mayor

To the editor:

Didn’t the Marion County Record report that Mayor David Mayfield had violated city code regarding the sale of a drug dog? Whatever became of this? 

I do not see where he was brought up on charges and prosecuted. 

If he violated the law, he should be held accountable and legally liable.

Civic leaders take an oath of office to uphold the laws of the land. They are supposed to be setting the example for those they serve and our youth.

Editor’s note: Prosecution of city code violations is the responsibility of the city attorney. The Record asked city attorney Brian Bina whether he had investigated the case. “I have not been tasked with doing so,” was his response.
