Bastards beware

To the editor:

I have been a practicing trial lawyer for just over 60 years. I have handled a substantial number of cases and rather large number of civil rights cases.

When I heard about your problems, I immediately purchased a two-year subscription to your newspaper.

You have done a terrific job, and I thought, maybe, that you might like to see what an old lawyer told me when I had one of my earlier civil rights cases and was being maligned for even taking the case.

He said, “illegitmi non carborundum” meaning “don’t let the bastards grind you down.”
