It was a lightning-delayed football game on Friday that saw Hope jump out to a 32-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Lions scored on two running plays and two pass plays that went for long yards.
Goessel’s only touchdown came early in the second quarter on an 11-yard run by Drake Sterk.
Hope scored two more times in the second period and then scored five minutes into the second half to reach the 45-point difference to give them the victory.
The Bluebirds picked up 73 yard rushing and 43 yards passing, with Trey Schmidt leading the team with 56 yards on the ground. Nic Buller caught two passes for 32 yards and Drake Sterk received two passes for 11 yards.
Defensively, Trey Schmidt collected four tackles along with Joe Campbell. Sterk earned three tackles, Buller and Bruce Benjamin notched two tackles each.
