Lois Lake

L. Lois Lake, 85, of Derby, formerly of McPherson, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 5, 2015, at Derby Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was retired from Beechcraft in Wichita, where she had worked as a stockroom clerk.

Lois was born Dec. 28, 1929, in Hillsboro, Kansas, the daughter of Fred J. and Ellen Carrie (Kasper) Winter. She attended the local schools around Lehigh and graduated from Lehigh High School in 1947.

On Sept. 7, 1947, Lois was united in marriage to Walter C. Lake, Jr. in Lehigh. He preceded her in death on May 13, 2009.

Lois was a 50-year member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, McPherson.

Survivors include: daughter, Rita Goben (Bob) of Derby, Kansas; grandson, Aaron Lake (Kim) of Derby, Kansas; great-grandsons, Austin and Peyton Lake of Derby, Kansas; sister, Betty Brewer of McPherson, Kansas; dear friend, Geri Sledge of Flower Mound, Texas; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Julie Lake, brother, Glenn Winter, and sisters, Wilma Schroeder, Joyce Gooding, Mary Tector, and Virginia Schulz.

The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 10, 2015, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Stockham Family Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be given to Derby Health and Rehabilitation Center or Rivercross Hospice in care of Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 N Chestnut St, McPherson KS 67460.
