Marie Mason

Edna “Marie” Fulkerson Mason, 105, of Marion, died Feb. 28 at Parkside Homes in Hillsboro. Edna’s life began on July 19, 1914, the daughter of James William and Mabel (King) Fulkerson in Drumright, Oklahoma.

She attended Bixler County Schools through the eighth grade and then had to quit school to help run the family farm.

She married Joseph “Scott” Mason on Nov. 27, 1939, in Eureka, Kansas.

She was a homemaker and attended Marion Christian Church. She enjoyed cooking, baking and her flower garden. Marie and Scott enjoyed traveling and later after retirement they would winter in Las Vegas.

Her loving family includes her sons William “Bill” Mason (Vi) of Kansas City, Missouri, and Jerry Mason of Houston, Texas; granddaughters Melissa Mason of Portland, Oregon, and Ashley Mason of Kansas City, Missouri; and son-in-law Stephen Rasmussen of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter June Rasmussen; and brother William Fulkerson.

Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 11 at Sunset Lawns Cemetery in El Dorado, Kansas, with Pastor Carl Helm officiating.
