Marion man bound over for murder trial

A man charged with murder in the first degree in the April 2020 death of a Wichita woman was bound over April 22 for trial.

Robert B. Mans, 49, Marion, is scheduled for arraignment May 24.

Mans allegedly killed Shalan Gannon, whose body was found last June in the Ninnescah River in Sumner County. The murder allegedly took place at Canada.

Mans’ stepbrother Jason Kirkby, 38, and stepfather Michael Kirkby, 61, who both testified along with 11 others at Mans’ preliminary hearing, also are charged in relation to the death.

They are identically charged with obstructing apprehension or arrest, interference with law enforcement, and criminal desecration of a body. Both have previous drug convictions and have spent time in prison. Jason Kirkby has additional convictions for burglary, aggravated burglary, and theft.

Both are scheduled for preliminary hearing May 5.
