Marjorie Bauman Sandwell

Marjorie B. Bauman Sandwell, 93, passed away Sept. 6, 2016, at St. Luke Living Center, Marion.  

She was born April 15, 1923, to Alvin A. and Elda Mae (Decker) Unruh in Logan Township, Marion County, Kansas.  

On Feb. 17, 1944, she was united in marriage to John Bauman, Jr. He passed away Jan. 17, 1976.

She later would marry Ed R. Sandwell on Aug. 18, 1984, and he also preceded her in death on June 27, 2004.  

Marjorie was a homemaker, enjoyed crafting, especially mosaics, and was a fabulous cook.  

She was a member of Valley United Methodist Church, active in United Methodist Women, and was a member of VFW Auxiliary.

Along with her husbands, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Clayton and Robert Unruh.  

She is lovingly survived by her children,  Linda Zadow and husband Charles of O’Fallon, Missouri, and John D. “J.D.” Bauman of Marion; a stepson, John Sandwell and wife Judy of Evansville, Indiana; siblings,  James Unruh and wife Georgia of Canton, Cleason Unruh of Wilsonville, Oregon, and LeAnna Minear of Marion; three grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.  

A memorial service was held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, at Valley United Methodist Church, Marion. Inurnment was at the Marion Cemetery.  

Memorial Funds have been established for Valley United Methodist Church or St. Luke Living Center in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm St., Marion KS 66861.
