Mechanic, old tech still going strong

Staff writer

Electronic fuel injection systems were first installed in diesel trucks and ag equipment in the 1990s.

Jerald “Jerry” Koehn, a mechanic at Williams Service in Florence since 1978, specializes in repairing injection systems built before 1995.

He works every morning, five days a week, repairing fuel pumps and injectors. He has a small workshop that includes a workbench and testing equipment.

“I enjoy working with fuel systems and repairing them,” he said.

Koehn and his wife own a small farm at Burns. He raises wheat, corn, and soybeans and has a small cowherd. They have four married children.

At 66, Koehn isn’t sure how long he will continue to work.

“I’m keeping my options open,” he said.

Koehn's last name was misspelled in some earlier editions.
